September 2025 Content Strategy for Accountants

🔥 Hot take: posting on Instagram without a clear strategy is almost as bad as not posting at all. If you’re an accountant, bookkeeper, or tax professional trying to grow your online presence, the days of “just posting to post” are over.

Every piece of content should have a job, like building trust, increasing your reach, or driving subscribers to your email list. Let’s break down what that looks like for your accounting firm or bookkeeping business this September.

1. Want More Bookkeeping + Tax Clients? Build Trust First

Clients don’t hire you because you post pretty graphics. They hire you because they trust you with their money, taxes, and financial decisions.

So if your goal is signing more clients, your content needs to:

  • Show real problems you solve (messy books, missed deductions, IRS letters).

  • Educate on common tax and bookkeeping mistakes.

  • Highlight success stories or testimonials (share before-and-after client examples).

2. Want More Reach? Post More Reels + Carousels

Instagram is still prioritizing video content (Reels) and saves/shares (carousels). If your analytics show your reach has stalled, posting static graphics won’t cut it.

✔️ Reels → great for visibility and finding new audiences.
✔️ Carousels → great for educating and encouraging shares.

Think of Reels as the hook that pulls people in, and carousels as the teaching tool that gets them to stick around.

📌 Example Post Idea: Record yourself working at your desk, then overlay text: “This ONE mistake is costing small business owners more in taxes.” Expand in the caption with your hot take.

3. Want More Email Subscribers? You Need a Freebie

Social media is a powerful tool, but your email list is where conversions happen. If you want to grow your email list, you need a lead magnet (aka freebie) that speaks to your audience.

This could be:

  • A 1099 checklist for small business owners

  • A Home Office Deduction guide

  • A QuickBooks cleanup cheat sheet

And here’s the key: promote it every single week. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel—just share the same story or Reel about your freebie consistently.

📌 Example Post Idea: “Don’t overpay in taxes this year. Download my free Small Business Tax Deduction Guide. Link in bio!”

4. Learn From What Already Worked

Before you plan a new month of content, peek at your analytics. Which posts:

  • Got the most saves?

  • Drove the most DMs?

  • Brought in new followers?

👉 Repeat what worked. Update the design, refresh the caption, and re-share. Don’t burn yourself out chasing new ideas when you already have proof of what resonates.

5. Put Your Face in Your Content

Your face = your brand. Whether you love it or not, people connect with people—not logos.

Start showing your face in:

  • Reels (talking directly to camera or as B-Roll)

  • Carousel covers

  • Story slides

The good news? Every photo of you instantly makes the content unique—no one else can copy it. If you’re using templates (like the ones in our content membership), swap in your own photos for instant personalization.

6. Make It Easy: Done-For-You Content

September is chaos for accountants and bookkeepers (hello, extended tax deadline 👋). Creating content may feel like “just one more thing” on your to-do list.

That’s exactly why I created our done-for-you accounting content memberships, to help you:

  • Stay consistent without burning out

  • Post high-performing Reels + carousels

  • Customize templates with your own face, branding, and expertise

Your clients need you focused on their numbers, not spending hours stressing over Canva.
